How to descale your Melitta Caffeo Solo?

Descaling your machine is part of its maintenance: the Melitta accumulates limescale over time and automatically requires descaling. In this article, you will find the steps to follow to descale your Melitta Solo.

Good to know

Several pieces of information should be considered:

1. Make sure to remove the used water filter before descaling.
2. Run the automatic descaling program every 3 months or when a descaling reminder appears on the screen.
3. After descaling, thoroughly empty the reservoir and replace it with a new filter.
4. Descaling takes 30 minutes, but you don't need to stay next to the machine during the procedure ;).
5. We recommend using Melitta descaling tablets.

The guide

Once your machine indicates that it needs descaling:

1. Simultaneously press the "Preparation for two cups" button and the "On/Off" button for approximately 3 seconds. The "Descaling" symbol flashes, and the "Drip tray" symbol lights up.
2. A "Coffee beans" symbol appears on the screen. Empty the coffee grounds container and the drip tray.
3. Place the drip tray without the coffee grounds container.
4. Completely empty the water reservoir. Add the descaling product to the water reservoir according to the instructions on the packaging.
5. Replace the water reservoir.
6. Press the "Steam" button to start the descaling program (duration approximately 15 minutes).
7. Turn the dial clockwise to open the valve. It will blink. The descaling solution flows from the steam nozzle into the container. This process takes about 10 minutes.
8. Empty the drip tray and place it back.
9. Remove the water reservoir and rinse it thoroughly with clear water.
10. Fill the water reservoir with tap water up to the Max mark. Place the water reservoir back.
11. Press the button to continue the descaling program (duration approximately 5 minutes).
12. Empty the drip tray and place it back. When it lights up, the descaling program is complete. Replace the water filter in the water reservoir.
