Your Melitta Purista machine needs cleaning? Or do you want to clean it before moving?

Here's the step-by-step process to clean your Melitta Purista.

Good to know

• Run the cleaning program every two months or when the cleaning symbol appears on the screen.
  
• The cleaning program takes about 15 minutes.
• Javry recommends using Melitta cleaning tablets. The use of other products may damage your machine.
• The progress of cleaning is indicated by the number of coffee beans displayed.

The Written Guide

Prerequisite: The machine is turned on and ready to operate.

Follow these 5 steps to clean your machine:

STEP 1 

1. Press and hold the "Service" button for more than 2 seconds to enter setting mode 1.
2. Press the "Service" button until the cleaning program symbol "CLEAN" appears.
3. Press and hold the "Service" button for more than 2 seconds to start the cleaning program. The "CLEAN" symbol will flash until the end of the cleaning program.

Step 2

1. The first step of the cleaning program begins. A coffee bean symbol lights up.
2. The "Collecting tray" symbol lights up, indicating you to empty the collecting tray and the coffee ground container.
3. Empty the collecting tray and the coffee ground container.
4. Place the collecting tray back without the coffee ground container.
5. Place the coffee ground container under the spout.
6. The machine performs two rinses.
7. The "CLEAN" symbol flashes quickly, prompting you to remove the brewing unit and insert a cleaning tablet.
8. Remove the brewing unit. Do not turn off the machine.
9. Rinse the brewing unit under running water (see Chapter 7.2 Cleaning the brewing unit on page 69).
10. Insert a cleaning tablet into the brewing unit. Place the brewing unit back into the machine.  
    

Step 3

The second step of the cleaning program begins. Two coffee bean symbols light up.

• The machine performs several rinses.
• The "Collecting tray" symbol lights up, indicating you to empty the collecting tray and the coffee ground container.

Step 4

The third step of the cleaning program begins. Three coffee bean symbols light up.

• Empty the collecting tray and the coffee ground container.
• Place the collecting tray back without the coffee ground container.

Step 5

The fourth step of the cleaning program begins. The three coffee bean symbols flash.

1. Place the coffee ground container under the spout.
2. The machine performs several rinses.
3. The "Collecting tray" symbol lights up, indicating you to empty the collecting tray and the coffee ground container.
4. Empty the collecting tray and the coffee ground container.
5. Place the collecting tray and the coffee ground container back in place.

The cleaning program is complete. The "CLEAN" symbol turns off. The machine is turned on and ready to operate.
