How to descale a Jura E4?

Descaling your machine is part of its maintenance: the Jura scales up as it is used and automatically requires descaling (unless you have a filter and you replace it at the right time). You will find in this article the procedure to follow to descale your Jura E4.

Good to know

There are several things to consider:

1. Always make sure to remove the water filter before descaling.
2. When descaling is complete, empty the water tank well and replace a new filter.
3. A descaling takes 40 minutes, but you must not stand next to the machine during the procedure. :-)
4. We advise you to use Jura or Solute descaling tablets.

To descale your Jura E4 machine, just follow the instructions given in the video below.

Once the descaling symbol lights up on your machine, here's how to do it:

1. Remove the filter from the tank.
2. Press the Programming mode button for about 2 seconds: the drip tray symbol lights up.
3. Empty the drip tray and the coffee grounds container, then put them back in place.
4. The water tank symbol flashes: place a container under the hot water spout, remove the water tank and empty it.
5. Then dissolve 3 descaling tablets in a container with 500ml of water (this may take a few minutes).
6. Fill the empty water tank with the solution, then put it back.
7. The coffee symbols on the display screen flash from right to left: this means that the hot water selector must be opened.
8. After the selector is opened, water flows repeatedly from the hot water spout.The process stops automatically.
9. The coffee symbols on the display screen flash from left to right: the selector must be closed.
10. The descaling cycle continues, and the drip tray symbol lights up.Empty it, as well as the coffee grounds container, then put everything back in place.
11. The water tank symbol lights up.
12. Empty the tank, making sure to rinse it well, so that there is no more product residue.
13. Fill the water tank with fresh water, then put it back.
14. The bean symbols flash from right to left: open the hot water selector.
15. Water flows several times, then the process stops automatically and the symbols flash from left to right. Then close the selector.
16. The drip tray symbol lights up: empty it, as well as the coffee grounds container, then put everything back in place.
17. The symbols flash 3x quickly: descaling is complete! You can put a filter back, and enjoy a delicious coffee :-)
