How to descale your Jura X4

Descaling your machine is part of its maintenance: the Jura accumulates limescale over time and automatically prompts for descaling. In this article, you will find the steps to descale your Jura X4.

**Good to Know**

Please consider the following:

- Make sure to remove the water filter before descaling.  

- After descaling, be sure to empty the water tank and replace it with a new filter.  

- Descaling takes 40 minutes, but you do not need to stay by the machine during the process. ;)  

- We recommend using Jura or Solute descaling tablets.

**Text Guide**

WARNING: If there is a filter in the water tank, remove it.

1. On the home screen, press and hold the bottom right button for three seconds.
2. Press "Descaling" and then "Start."
3. The message "Empty the drip tray" will appear.
4. Remove the drip tray and coffee grounds container.
5. Empty and replace the trays.
6. The message "Add tablet" will appear.
7. Open the lid above the water tank.
8. Remove the tank and empty it.
9. Fill a container with 500ml of water.
10. Dissolve THREE tablets in it.
11. Once the tablets have dissolved, pour the solution into the tank and replace it.
12. Place a container under the coffee spout.
13. Press "Next": descaling will begin automatically.
14. The message "Empty the drip tray" will appear: repeat steps 4 and 5.
15. Empty the container under the spout and replace it.
16. The message "Fill water tank" will appear.
17. Empty and thoroughly rinse the tank.
18. Refill it with fresh water.
19. Press "Next."
20. The message "Empty the drip tray" will appear: repeat steps 4 and 5.
21. Descaling is complete.
    
    **WARNING**: Don’t forget to replace the filter if there was one in the machine.
