How to descale your Jura W4?

Descaling your machine is part of its regular maintenance: over time, your Jura builds up limescale and will automatically prompt you to start a descaling cycle.

In this article, you’ll find the steps to properly descale your Jura W4.

Good to know

A few important points to keep in mind:

• Make sure to remove the water filter before starting the descaling process.

• When descaling is complete, empty the water tank and insert a new filter.

• A descaling cycle lasts about 20 minutes, but you don’t need to stay beside the machine during the process. 😉

• We recommend using Solute descaling tablets

Text instructions

Over time, your W4 will accumulate limescale and automatically request a descaling cycle. The level of scaling depends on your water hardness.
If you use a CLARIS Pro Smart+ filter cartridge, the descaling prompt will not appear.

⚠️ WARNING
Using unsuitable descaling agents can damage the machine and leave residues in the water.
Interrupting the descaling program may also damage the machine.
Always let the descaling program run until it is fully completed.

1. “Descaling” appears in the Cockpit.

2. Press and hold the 0 button for about 2 seconds to access the JURA Cockpit dashboard.

3. Press the “Descaling” button.

4. Press “Start.”

5. “Empty drip tray.”

6. Empty the drip tray and the coffee grounds container, then reinsert them.

7. “Add product.”

8. Remove and empty the water tank.

9. Completely dissolve 3 JURA descaling tablets in a container with 600 ml of water. This may take a few minutes.

10. Fill the empty water tank with the prepared solution and reinsert it.

11. Place a container under the coffee spout.

12. Tap or scan the QR code to watch the tutorial.

13. Press “Continue.”

14. “Turn open.”

15. Turn the selector to position x.

16. “Machine descaling” – water will flow several times from the hot water spout.

17. “Turn close.”

18. Turn the selector to position °.

19. The descaling cycle continues – water will flow directly into the drip tray.

20. “Empty drip tray.”

21. Empty the drip tray and coffee grounds container, then reinsert them.

22. “Rinse water tank” / “Fill water tank.”

23. Empty the container and place it again under the coffee spout.

24. Remove the water tank and rinse it thoroughly.

25. Fill the tank with fresh water and reinsert it.

26. Press “Continue.”

27. “Turn open.”

28. Turn the selector to position x.

29. “Machine descaling” – water flows several times from the hot water spout.

30. “Turn close.”

31. Turn the selector to position °.

32. The descaling cycle continues.

33. “Empty drip tray.”

34. Empty the drip tray and coffee grounds container once more, then reinsert them.

35. In case of an unexpected interruption of the descaling program, rinse the water tank thoroughly.
