How to descale a Jura D4 ?

Descaling your machine is part of its maintenance. However, if you replace the filters on time (which we obviously recommend!), you will rarely have to descale.

Good to know

There are several things to keep in mind: 

1. Be sure to remove the water filter before descaling.
2. When descaling is complete, empty the tank before replacing a filter.
3. Descaling takes about 45 minutes but you should not stand next to the machine during the procedure.
4. We recommend the use of Jura or Solute descaling tablets.

To descale your Jura D4 machine, you can follow the instructions in this video:

When the "Descale" symbol lights up:

1. Touch the symbol for 2 seconds.
2. The coffee grounds container symbol lights up: Empty the drip tray and the coffee grounds container.
3. Replace them.
4. The "descaling" symbol and the "water tank" symbol light up.
5. Remove the water tank and empty it.
6. Dissolve 3 Jura or Solute descaling tablets completely in a container with 500 ml of water. This takes a few minutes.
7. Fill the empty water tank with this solution.
8. Put it back in place.
9. The light segment on the selector switch comes on: place a container under the coffee spout and the hot water nozzle.
10. Open the selector switch to the "coffee" position. The lighted segment of the selector switch flashes and water flows from the hot water nozzle several times.
11. The "descaling" symbol flashes during the operation. When the descaling process is over, the light segment on the selector switch comes on.
12. Close the selector switch in the "Off" position. The descaling operation continues.
13. When the operation is interrupted: the symbol of the coffee grounds container lights up.
14. Empty the drip tray and the coffee grounds container.
15. Replace them.
16. The "descaling" symbol and the "water tank" symbol light up: empty the container and replace it under the coffee spout and the hot water nozzle.
17. Remove the water tank and rinse it thoroughly. Fill it with fresh water and replace it.
18. The light segment on the selector switch will come on. Open it to the "coffee" position.
19. The light segment on the selector switch flashes: water flows from the hot water nozzle several times.
20. When the operation stops, the light segment on the selector switch comes on.
21. Close the selector switch in the "Off" position.
22. The operation will continue.
23. When the operation is interrupted, the "coffee grounds container" symbol lights up.
24. Empty the drip tray and the coffee grounds container.
25. Put everything back in place.
26. Congratulations: your machine has been descaled.
