How to use your Jura D4 on a daily basis?

You have received your new Jura D4 coffee machine, and you're eager to taste your first cup of coffee? Here are a few explanations (to share with your colleagues, of course!) that will help you enjoy delicious hot beverages.

Symbols

Your machine enjoys communicating with you. To convey messages, it uses symbols, which are as follows:

Basic Principles

• You can adjust the coffee strength before and during the grinding process. Three intensity levels are available: "mild," "normal," and "strong."
• To prepare a double portion, lightly touch the "double product X2" symbol before starting the preparation. Then choose between espresso or coffee.
• You can interrupt the preparation of a coffee specialty at any time. To do so, lightly touch the symbol of the ongoing specialty once again.

How to fill the water tank?

Fill the water tank only with cold tap water.

1. Open the water tank cover.
2. Remove the water tank and rinse it.
3. Fill it with fresh water and put it back in place.
4. Close the tank with the cover.

How to prepare a hot beverage (using whole coffee beans)?

1. Place a cup under the coffee outlet.
2. Lightly touch the symbol of your choice.
3. The preparation will start. You can adjust the pre-set water quantity.
4. The preparation will stop.

If you want to permanently adjust the water quantity for future preparations, refer to page 16 of the manual.

How to prepare a hot beverage (using ground coffee)?

You have the option to use a second type of coffee (e.g., decaffeinated coffee) using the ground coffee funnel.

• Never pour more than two doses of ground coffee. 1 dose = 10 grams = 1 heaped tablespoon.
• The desired coffee specialty should be prepared within a minute after filling the ground coffee. If you exceed this timing, the D4 will interrupt and switch back to "whole coffee beans" mode.

Here is the procedure:

1. Place a cup under the coffee outlet.
2. Open the cover of the ground coffee funnel.
3. Pour one dose of ground coffee into the funnel.
4. Close the cover.
5. Lightly touch the symbol of your choice.
6. The preparation will start.
7. The preparation will stop.
8. Your machine is ready to serve another coffee (using whole coffee beans).

How to use hot water?

Do you want hot water to make tea? Here are a few steps to follow:

1. Place a cup under the hot water spout.
2. Open the selector to the coffee icon.
3. A flashing segment of light and water will flow several times from the hot water spout.
4. Close the selector when you have enough hot water.

How to set up the grinder?

The grinder adjustment located in the bean container should never be used. If you find the grind fineness inappropriate, please contact us, and we will assist you.

How to properly maintain your machine?

Your Jura D4 has built-in maintenance programs:

• Machine cleaning, which is required every 180 preparations.
• Descaling the machine, which should be done very rarely if you use filters correctly.
• Replacement of the filter as soon as the filter symbol turns red.

When your machine prompts you to do so, perform these maintenance tasks.
